Dye Sublimation by Accelerate Brand Studio, Johannesburg

Dye sublimation bonds ink into the material rather than laying it on top. The result is a full-colour, photographic finish that does not crack, peel or feel like a patch — which is why it is the method of choice for all-over prints and detailed artwork.

We transfer logos and full designs onto garments and hard goods, including metallic, flocking, reflective and glow-in-the-dark materials for designs that need to work at night or under stage lighting.

What we produce

Why produce this with Accelerate

We run print and manufacturing in the same business, across two divisions — Brand Studio and Brand Workshop. That means a project needing dye sublimation alongside other branding does not get split between suppliers, so brand colour stays consistent and there is one person accountable for the deadline.

We are based in Randburg, Johannesburg and deliver nationwide. Every enquiry gets a written quote with a firm deadline within 24 hours on business days.

Dye Sublimation FAQs

The questions we get asked most about dye sublimation.

What is dye sublimation printing?
Dye sublimation uses heat to turn solid dye into a gas that bonds into the fibres or coating of the item. Because the colour becomes part of the material instead of sitting on the surface, the print will not crack, peel or fade the way a surface layer does, and the finished garment keeps its original feel.
What materials can be dye sublimated?
Sublimation needs either a high-polyester fabric or a specially coated hard surface. Polyester sports fabrics, coated mugs and drinkware, PU and fabric notebook covers and coated metal all work well. Pure cotton does not bond, so cotton garments are better suited to screen printing or a heat transfer.
Is dye sublimation better than screen printing?
Neither is better outright — they solve different problems. Sublimation wins on full-colour photographic artwork, all-over prints and small quantities. Screen printing wins on solid brand colours, cotton garments and cost per unit at volume. We recommend the method that suits your artwork and quantity when we quote.
Can you print glow-in-the-dark or reflective designs?
Yes. We stock metallic, flocking, reflective and glow-in-the-dark transfer materials. These are commonly used for night events, safety wear and stage or club environments where a standard print disappears under low light.
Can you dye sublimate mugs and power banks?
Yes. Coated drinkware, power banks, notebooks and similar hard goods all take a sublimated print, giving a full-wrap, full-colour result rather than a small badge. These are among the most popular corporate gift items because the branding survives daily use.
